The tour through Uruguay presented here is an example of a tour focusing on nature and the Gaucho Festival. Since the annual Patria Gaucha, the traditional Gaucho festival, is celebrated in March, the tour is designed around it.

The individual travel focus can also be completely different. The spectrum ranges from the longest carnival in the world to visits to wine bodegas, participation in music festivals, tango events and much more. We are happy to put together a tour according to your wishes!

Day 1 in Colonia del Sacramento

On the first day the theory briefing takes place in the Aeroclub of Colonia del Sacramento. We also do the familiarization flights with each pilot. We depart from Colonia International Airport to the grass runway of the Aeroclub in Nueva Helvecia and to the new airport in Carmelo.

Day 2: Flight from Colonia del Sacramento to Punta del Este

We fly along the coast of the Rio de la Plata, past Montevideo, to Punta del Este, where we land in El Jaguel. Here we take a city tour through the famous seaside resort and visit the Casapueblo. Uruguayan artist Carlos Paéz Vilaró’s surrealist house was built into the cliffs and is affectionately known as a walk-in sculpture.

Day 3: Flight from Punta del Este to Treinta y Tres

On this day we fly along the Atlantic coast to the surfing beaches in La Paloma, further to the shifting dunes and the large sea lion and seal colony in Cabo Polonio and from there inland, near the border with Brazil. We land at a private agricultural airfield, where we are picked up and then go on a guided hike in the jungle-like region of Quebradas de los Cuervos.

Day 4: Flight from Treinta y Tres to Paso de los Toros

Paso de los Toros is home to the historic dam on the Rio Negro, which created the huge Rincon del Bonete reservoir. You can visit this and then immerse yourself in the simple life in the country.

Day 5: Flight from Paso de los Toros to Tacuarembó

After landing at the public airport in Tacuarembó, we visit the Aeroclub and the agricultural pilots at Santos Servicios Aereos. We can also view the Ford T Museum and the Carlos Gardel record collection in our hotel.

Day 6: Patria Gaucha

No flight on day six. We have the whole day to experience the Patria Gaucha, the largest gaucho festival in the country. In the morning the parade through the city, in the afternoon the rodeos and in the evening the musical entertainment. It is an event that could not be more authentic.

Day 7: Flight from Tacuarembó to Artigas

Depending on whether we get Avgas in Treinta y Tres or Tacuarembó, we might first fly to Rivera to refuel. Afterwards, we will definitely continue to Artigas, where we have the opportunity for a guided visit to a mine in which the amethysts, which are world-famous for their intense purple color, are mined. We then visit a jewelry and stone factory.

Day 8: Flight from Artigas to Salto

There are many natural thermal springs in the Salto area. On this day, we can either relax in one of the springs or chat about flying with Uruguayan pilot friends.

Day 9: Flight from Salto to Carmelo

The flight takes us along the Rio Uruguay, the border river with Argentina. We fly past the mouth of the Rio Queguay and the Rio Negro and then fly on to Carmelo, the small town on the Rio de la Plata, where we are expected in a bodega for wine tasting and overnight stay.

Day 10: Return flight to Colonia del Sacramento

On the last day we fly along the coast of the Rio de la Plata to Colonia del Sacramento, our base in Uruguay. There we end the day with an authentic asado, the typical grilled meal in southern South America, in the old town.

[/vc_column][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1550599485793{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}” offset=”vc_col-lg-6 vc_col-md-8″]

The route and its legs:

Impressions of some areas of this tour:

ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder

[/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-offset-1 vc_col-lg-10 vc_col-md-offset-1 vc_col-md-10″ css=”.vc_custom_1549643930221{padding-bottom: 70px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”top” css=”.vc_custom_1564725217977{padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/12″ css=”.vc_custom_1550599492009{padding-bottom: 40px !important;}” offset=”vc_col-lg-6 vc_col-md-4″][/vc_column][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1550599485793{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}” offset=”vc_col-lg-6 vc_col-md-8″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

["post-1650","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry","description-off
["GET
